When a car has been destroyed in an accident, or damaged to the point where the owner or the insurance company considers the costs to repair it uneconomical, the vehicle is considered a loss and not repaired. A Salvage Certificate must be issued instead of an Ownership Certificate for the total loss of the vehicle.
